Hi there, my name is Kevin, and I’m the author of Fit Mind, Fit Life.
I wrote Fit Mind, Fit Life after losing 40 pounds and 4 waist sizes in my journey to return to my glory days… However, like many of you out there, my story begins way before I achieved much of anything in life.
I grew up in Delran, N.J., a suburb of Philadelphia. As a kid, growing up, a few things were evident:
1-I loved the written word. As a matter of fact, the first words I ever read aloud were at the kitchen table with my father, as I read a newspaper headline to him.
2-I couldn’t get enough of American sports! I tried to play every sport I could as a kid, and took a lot of interest in the professional games, especially football and hoops. I earned a black belt in Kenpo Karate at the age of 12, and went on to study sports broadcasting at Penn State University.
3-I’ve always wanted to help people – whether it was giving friends advice on personal situations, or helping my mother take care of my sick grandparents – I have always had a deep desire and calling for connecting with my fellow man and woman.
I also consider myself a born leader, having held professional positions in management, and also stacking the deck with my involvement in college, I always knew I’d be working for myself someday, leading others to a better life. It is my goal to do that through this blog.
I graduated Penn State with a BA in journalism, minoring in Spanish and kinesiology. With my focus on “movement science,” I learned about the human anatomy, nutrition, and sports psychology, philosophy, history and coaching. After school, I spent five years in the journalism field.
Throughout that time, I put on a significant amount of weight and lost my way with my health and fitness lifestyle. It seemed to me that one day I woke up 30 pounds overweight. I couldn’t make it up one flight of stairs without huffing and puffing for air, I had no strength in my legs after a torn ACL, and I looked just plain sloppy. I realized I had to do something, so I finally took action and achieved great results after spending much of my time on research, trial and error.
As a writer by trade, and someone who wants to genuinely help people, I decided to take steps toward a career in the health and fitness world in 2014 when various friends and family asked how I achieved such great results.
I consider myself a foodie and love to cook. I have also completed a half marathon, a sprint triathlon, and many other smaller races. I look forward to creating healthy recipes and deciphering today’s latest trends in dieting and exercising to help you get the results you desire and deserve.
Long story short, I’ll be here, by your side, helping you shorten your learning curve, so it doesn’t take you as long as it took me to find my way.
